Events at First Presbyterian Church
First Sunday Brunches 2016
June 5, July 3, and August 7
Following the 10:30 service, the First Presbyterian congregation, friends, and family are invited to gather in Fisher Hall for a potluck brunch!
Congregation: Please bring a potluck dish to serve 12- meat, vegetable, or salad. Also please bring your own table service. We are trying to go green and reduce the use of plastics, paper products and plates, as well as clean-up.
Membership Committee will provide dessert and beverages.
Jingle Bell Run
In December, First Presbyterian Church hosts the Jingle Bell Run – a 5k gallop through the streets of downtown Manhattan. We encourage participants of all ages to get into the holiday spirit with this family-friendly event. Many even dress up in fun festive attire, with Christmas lights and reindeer antlers, to enjoy the season!
Presby Diners – January, February & March
Open to all, Presby Diners is an annual event sponsored by the Membership, Fellowship and Church Growth committees of First Presbyterian.
-Monthly events are held in January, February and March. The “host” provides the main dish and drinks. The “guests” provide appetizer, salad, vegetable, bread or dessert that you and the “host” agree on. Yes, you may purchase food.
-A typical gathering occurs on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening when approximately 8 to 10 people gather and share a meal and fellowship. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and renew old friendships. You will eat with a different group each month and it is open to singles, couples, members and non-members.
Ladies Night Out Ladies of all ages enjoyed a fun night of friendship and fellowship with one another!
Concert in Friendship Park
Featuring Joan Nelson and her band.
Men’s and Women’s Retreats
We enjoy inviting guests to speak about faith and the importance their beliefs have played in their lives. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and are given time to discuss the presentation and grow in their own spirituality. The 2015 Women’s Retreat featured Carmen Fowler LaBerge speaking on the topic of “What is it About Bread? What are the Ingredients of the Christian Life?”
Seasonal Events for Youth
Annual Ski Trip
Each year our youth travels to a Ski Resort in Colorado to enjoy the winter fun and take in spectacular views of the mountains. It is a time to refresh, retreat, and enjoy time with friends during a wonderful time of the year. During last year’s Ski Trip, we went to Ski Cooper in Leadville, CO
Annual Mission Trip
Every summer, the youth take a mission trip to various locations in the country. Last year’s mission trip was held at the Heifer International Ranch in Arkansas. Additional information on our annual mission trips may be found on our mission trips page.
Annual Children’s Christmas Program and Deacons’ Dinner
The annual Presby KIDS! Christmas Program is held each December, and portrays a musical celebration of the Christmas season. The children sing, dance and play instruments! A potluck Deacon’s Dinner follows the event.
