Community Programs at First Presbyterian Church

Community Meals

Community Meals

As a service to our community, our church provides two community meals each week to help feed anyone in need. Each meal is organized, prepared, and served by church members and friends who volunteer their time, effort, and culinary talents to this ministry. There are no requirements or restrictions on whom we will serve, it is truly open to anyone! There are many community members who are regulars and depend on this ministry which we are happy to provide! Nearly 100 volunteers prepare, serve, and clean-up, in addition to the conversations that take place around the round tables in First Presbyterian’s recreation center. This ministry has touched hundreds of lives in our community with the congregation responding to Jesus’ words: “I was hungry and you gave me food….

Community Dinner

Brown Bag Lunches

During our Community Breakfasts, we provide a “brown bag lunch” containing a sandwich, non-perishable snack, and optional fruit. This ministry is led by Peggy Lyons.

Food Pantry

Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is a ministry that helps meet the constant need of hunger for a number of families in the Manhattan area. This ministry is partnered with the Flint Hills Breadbasket, an organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and poverty. Our food pantry provides individuals and families with basic food and nutritional provisions. Beneficiaries receive a variety of food staples such as milk, eggs, pasta, meats, etc. in generous quantities based on their family size. Registration is required to establish need. Please contact the church for more information.

Food Pantry Hours

Every Friday from 9:00-11:30 a.m. in the Church Narthex. We usually serve between 20-30 families per week, and we are always in need of volunteers to help stock, register participants, and distribute bags of food. We go through hundreds of items of food each week, and are always replenishing and organizing our stockroom.
