Church Committees

Many members of our church choose to dedicate their time and talents to serve the church by serving on various committees which address the many areas of need to keep our ministries running smoothly and efficiently.  Committees are a major part of our church life, and we believe that collaborative leadership is an effective way to ensure that we are allowing God to direct our actions and decisions.  Committee service is, therefore, an extremely important part of the life of our church.

The permanent committees that address various aspects of the church’s life and leadership are:

Business Affairs/Building & Grounds
This committee oversees the maintenance of our facilities, monitors monthly financial activities and obligations of the church, and develops our annual budget.

Christian Education for Adults
This group seeks to oversee the direction, vision, and implementation of adult educational opportunities in the church and to promote further study of Scripture by all church members.

Christian Education for Children and Youth
These members plan, implement, and evaluate Christian education in our church for children and youth through 12th grade.  Their primary programs include Sunday School, youth groups, and summer camps.

Membership and Church Growth/Fellowship
This committee organizes and oversees weekly hospitality and fellowship efforts (Greeters, ushers, etc) and helps maintain church membership records.  They also plan and organize fellowship events such as Summer Brunch and the Annual Church Picnic.

This committee identifies and organizes ways for our church to be engaged in mission locally, nationally, and internationally.  They encourage congregational awareness of needs and mission opportunities and allocate funds to support church ministries and other ministry-related organizations.

The Nominating committee identifies and recruits church members to serve as Elders, Deacons, and other church leadership roles.

This group oversees our church’s extensive staff and personnel, assures equal employment opportunities, and establishes personnel policies.  They also conduct annual performance reviews.

These individuals seek to brainstorm, plan, and articulate a long-term vision for the church. They seek out the direction of God’s plan for the church.

This committee seeks to encourage and promote responsible stewardship in the life of the church and its members.

The duties of this group are to oversee and organize all opportunities for worship in the life of the church.  They also provide opportunities for the regular celebration of the sacraments of Baptism and Communion by the congregation.
